Congregation Emanu El Becker Early Childhood Center began in 1989 with only thirty six students. Today, in our NAEYC accredited school, we have over two hundred children enrolled in programs for children 15 months to 5 years of age. Becker Early Childhood Center places a high value on education and the community spirit of the synagogue. In a nurturing and positive atmosphere, we create a stimulating environment for young children to grow and develop. As we bridge the gap from home to school, we work with you to help your child build a strong self-image creating a solid foundation for intellectual, social and emotional growth.

Philosophy
To nurture children to grow intellectually, spiritually, socially, emotionally, and physically through a developmentally appropriate curriculum and environment that respects each child. We encourage respect of others and the environment through positive values of Judaism. We believe that young children learn through play and need the opportunity to investigate their interests in a meaningful way. Children's growth and development is enhanced by the respectful individualized relationships developed between the teachers and children and the teachers and parents. Family and community perspectives are a priority in the continued improvement of our program.

Curriculum
The curriculum of Becker Early Childhood Center is always evolving as it prepares students to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century. The Jewish component of our program encourages children to experience the positive values of Judaism in a synagogue setting at an early age. Each day incorporates a healthy balance of indoor and outdoor activity with quiet and active experiences that include Jewish customs and traditions, language arts, science, math, music, art, fine and gross motor play, health and safety, and social interaction.

Accreditation
Becker Early Childhood Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Early childhood programs accredited by the NAEYC Academy for Early Childhood Program Accreditation have voluntarily undergone a comprehensive process of internal self-study and improvement. The program at Becker meets or exceeds all 10 of the NAEYC Early childhood Programs Standards. For more information about the standards and NAEYC Accreditation, visit www.rightchoiceforkids.org.
